7 Quick Takes Friday (vol. 15)

Did I ever mention that I went for it with the bangs? (Thanks for your input, btw!) Here is a pic of my new cut. So far I’m loving the bangs and only slightly missing the 6 inches of length I had chopped off. It has been much cooler on the few days it has been over 90 this summer and faster to style in the morning. Admittedly, it is more work than throwing it into a braid or a bun, but I think it looks more professional this way, too.

I saw this pin on Pinterest with the caption, “He said it more than once.” It really spoke to me. I’ve been dealing with lots of unknowns lately and my type A personality has been struggling to let go of the control, the fear, and to just trust that God will work everything out for His good.  It was a much needed reminder and a great comfort.

Do Not Be Afraid

So I know this is seasonally inappropriate, but the cool-ish weather we’ve been having is making me eager for fall. I may have even started to pumpk-ify my house with things like pumpkin scented candles, hand soaps, and even pumpkin pancakes for breakfast.

What are your favorite pumpkin recipes? This is one of mine: Frosted Pumpkin Cake.

This past week, we watched The Guilt Trip. I was pleasantly surprised by how much Mark and I liked it. The ups and downs of the mother-son relationship were very believeable and overall it was cute. I recommend it!

A few weeks ago I had a reunion with some of my college roomies. It was so great to see all of them! We live all across the country now, so it was fun to visit together and explore all the changes that have happened to Purdue’s campus since we graduated. I showed my Mom this picture of us at one of our old hangouts, Brothers, and she commented that she was surprised we hadn’t aged much since we graduated 7 years ago. To which I replied, “Hey! We aren’t THAT old yet!”

Mark and I got each other bikes as an anniversary gift a couple of years ago. Since then, both of his tires went flat. We’d try to air them up, but they’d always be flat before we could even make it around the block. We found a great deal online and ordered some new inner tubes for his tires, and thanks to YouTube and Mark’s engineering skills, we were able to figure out how to take the old tires off and put the inner tubes in. Little did we know there are actually two types of air valves – presta and schrader.

Apparently the kind we ordered, presta, isn’t very common. None of the air pumps we have work with this type of valve. None of the gas stations or air stations nearby have presta valves either. We had to go to a bike shop to fill them up, and had to order an adapter online.

Moral of the story – if you are going to replace your bicycle tire inner tubes, get one with a schrader valve! Hopefully we will finally get a chance to go on a longer bike ride this weekend.

This is the only link up I (semi-regularly) do, but I’d like to participate in more of them. Any suggestions?

  1. Yes, I know of a great link up! Get ready for some shameless self promotion…Join us over at Suscipio on Monday’s for “Catholic Woman’s Almanac {CWA}. ” It’s a fun glimpse into other Catholic women’s lives. We also have a link up…without the link up…on Friday’s called “3-2-1.”

Now that that is out of the way. I like the bangs. Now I need to search your site for a pre-bang picture to compare.
