Adoption update #4

A pandemic is a tricky time to be waiting for adoption. There’s no going out with friends or visiting family or looking forward to/taking vacations to distract us from the wait. I walk by the nursery about 100 times per day on the way to the bathroom, kitchen, to visit Mark in his office downstairs, etc. It’s given me a sense of urgency to get our nursery furnished and decorated. I’ll be sure to share photos and do a video tour on Instagram as that comes together.

We are still on the hunt for a crib we like. There are so many options it can be paralyzing. Convertible into a toddler bed? Width between rails? Type of mattress? So many choices. If you have a brand or type of crib you would recommend, we’re all ears!

Public Instagram Account

We are approaching 1 year of waiting for adoption in June, so we decided to spread the word to help us connect with an expectant family. To help us do that, I created a new public Instagram account called @markadri_adopt. (Our other accounts are private.)

Lots of friends and family shared it for us on Facebook. If you haven’t already followed and shared the account, we’d be so grateful if you would consider doing so. <3

We know we’re getting some reach, even with our limited followers, because we’ve already been contacted by an adoption scammer. Hopefully it reaches some legitimate expectant parents in the coming months. 😉

Mother’s Day

I’ve written about how difficult Mother’s Day has been for me in the past. This year was different.

Mother’s Day flowers from my husband, on behalf of our puppy 😉

Maybe it was the beautiful roses. Or the fact we couldn’t attend any Mother’s Day parties due to COVID. Maybe it was because we couldn’t go to Church in-person so I didn’t have to sit while the priest asked mothers to stand for a blessing. Or the sweet FaceTime call I got to have with my nephews and the hope I have in my heart about adoption. Maybe it was the way my heart was aching for birth mothers missing their children. Or perhaps the most reasonable answer is that the peace I felt was simply a grace from God.

Whatever the reason, I’m grateful it was a good day!

Thank you for walking with us on this journey, friends!

I can’t wait for your blog to say you’ve been selected! I love our crib/bedding set for Connor from Target. It’s a convertible so he can use it for many years to come.

Me too!! 😀 Will you please share a link to the crib? I like the idea of getting more mileage out of a piece of furniture, for it to transition to a toddler bed.

The store buy buy baby has cribs that not only will convert to toddler beds but if you buy the other components will convert to a double bed once they grow out of the toddler bed.

Thank you for the tip, Kathy! Seems like a good purchase that would last several years.

We also went with a convertible crib option (purchased at buy buy baby). It started with our sweet boy (now 10) and is now the full size bed for my daughter (now 8). I researched the crib for you but it looks like that brand was bought out. There are SO many great options. ❤️ Thinking of you and Mark often!!!!
