Friday favorites vol. 10

Last week, we had a lovely vacation visiting family and one of our favorite places in Wisconsin. I’m joining the Friday Favorites link-up with Erica, Andrea, and Narci to share some of the highlights. 💕

If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you know our family takes an annual trip to the upper peninsula of Wisconsin. It’s a tradition on my husband’s side of the family, and we always have a blast getting to spend the week with them.

My first favorite from the trip is that my sister and her husband came this year, too!

More festival-ing.

My in-laws are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this month! They’re some of the most loving, generous people on earth, so we wanted to celebrate this big milestone while we were all together during the trip.

We hosted a surprise gathering at the hotel to commemorate the occasion with friends and family who were on the trip. This get together is my next favorite!

We played the Newlywed Game, and as expected, they dominated.

Would you believe I didn’t snap a single photo of my in-laws together?! #fail

My next favorite is our visit to a local lighthouse. Ever since I watched Pete’s Dragon as a kid, I’ve wanted to go up into a lighthouse. This little excursion was like fulfilling a childhood dream I’d completely forgotten I had. 😂

We had to ride across a small causeway in Lake Michigan to get to the island. Normally a wagon takes people across, but the wagon wheel was broken, so we rode in the back of a pick up truck.

Once we made it safely to the lighthouse, we did a quick tour of the lighthouse keeper’s quarters and then climbed to the top.

It was a blustery day, which made standing out on the ledge feel a tiny bit scary. Naturally I held on to my husband and the railing for dear life.

Spending time with our sweet nephews and godsons was OF COURSE another favorite.

Hanging at the fall festival with these cutie pies. Every time I see them, I’m surprised by how much they’ve grown up.
We had the privilege of babysitting the night before we left for the trip. Here, I’m teaching my youngest nephew about the wonders of Snapchat.

On our way home, we made a quick stop by The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. It is so peaceful and one of my favorite places to pray.

After vacation we spent a few days doing projects around the house. I painted our upstairs hallway and Mark replaced all of our smoke detectors. PSA — Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years, people! Not just the batteries, the actual detectors. Now you know. 😉

After a refreshing vacation, I was excited to get back to work this week. Most of the week I worked on implementing new software we’ll use to streamline the hiring process. You know I’m a software nerd and I love a productivity tool, so this was quite fun for me.

How was your week?
