Friday favorites vol. 14

Happy Friday, friends! This has been a big week in our house. My husband started his new job and we had an all day training event with our adoption agency. More on the latter further down in this post.

I was hanging out with some of my sisters when the topic of eating raw cookie dough came up, as it does. šŸ˜‰ I shared about a new cookie store in our town that has edible cookie dough (i.e. they use pasteurized eggs.) Then one of my sisters told me about edible cookie dough you can buy in the grocery store! I did not know this was a thing and honestly it probably would’ve been better if it stayed that way. Haha.

I picked up a carton, and it was gone within a week, making it my first fav. If you like raw cookie dough, this is a must try.

My next favorite is that we are home study approved! We learned this week the last step we need to complete to be an “active” waiting family is our profile book. I created a digital book a while back for a situation we were being considered for, so I just need to translate that to something physical.

It’s harder than it sounds! I don’t know if it’s because I’m very picky from a design perspective or because I’m a software snob thanks to working in the tech industry, but all the “create a book” tools I’ve found are garbage from a usability perspective. I know how to use them, it’s just a tedious unpleasant experience that makes me want to cry.

If you have used one you don’t hate (yes, my bar is that low), please let me know!

I came across this LinkedIn post (my next fav) about the value of being open to learning new things. It reminded me so much of my Grandpa and of my husband’s Papa.

Both taught themselves how to use computers long after they were retired and loved to challenge themselves intellectually. My Grandpa is in his late 80’s and still plays solitaire on his computer!

My next 2 favs are about music. I’ve been a Blink 182 fan since high school, so I was pretty excited to see a new song from them when I opened my music app. Their song Blame It On My Youth is so much like their old stuff. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

The Head and The Heart (one of my favorite groups) just released a new album, and it has been on repeat in my office while I’m working this week. You should definitely check it out!

What have you been listening to lately?

Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend! šŸ’œ
