Home again, home again, jiggity jig

For the last several years, my husband and I have been thinking about moving a few hours away to a neighboring state, close to where I grew up.

We’ve been praying about growing our family (more on that later!) and were hoping for a little more space for that purpose. Between that, skyrocketing taxes and a bunch of dumb political stuff happening in our current state, we thought now might be the right time to make the leap.

Back toward the end of July, we made a list of pros and cons. Aside from moving away from one side of our family, which really is breaking our hearts, the pros far outweighed the cons.

We prayed about moving, and we felt peace.

We asked our bosses if we could work remotely. They both said yes. This is more or less unheard of in my husband’s company, so we both saw God’s hand in this “YES” in a big way.

At the end of August, we put our current home up for sale. We had two offers in a little over three weeks thanks to our awesome realtor and a staging genius. The stager changed the position of our dining room table and my mind was blown at how much larger the room looked. Same table, same space, but the room looks so much bigger!

In September, we fell in love with a house in the town we wanted to live in and made an offer. After some negotiations, the seller accepted. We are now under contract to close at the end of the month. Our realtor in our new town has been awesome, too. So patient with all of our questions!

All that to say, we’re moving!

It has been a whirlwind of activity the last few months, and I’ve been seriously neglecting the blog (among other things) as a result. I’ve also been hesitant to announce it because until we officially close on both houses, it could fall apart.

However, from the time we made the decision until now, everything has fallen into place in such a way that has given us a lot of peace. I’m choosing to be optimistic it will all work out. God’s will be done.

When I was a kid, my Mom used to say, “Home again, home again, jiggity jig” whenever we pulled into the driveway at home after a long car trip. I am proud to admit I’ve been carrying on the tradition, and I can’t wait to say it when we pull into the driveway of our new house in our new town at the end of the month!!

Thank you for your prayers, Rebecca!! We are so grateful to continue in our current jobs. It would’ve taken us a lot longer to be able to move otherwise.
