Letter to Expectant Parents

Hello,

Thank you for reading! We can only imagine the journey that has led you to reading our letter, and we are praying for you as you consider how to move forward.

We have a loving, stable marriage and just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary.

After prayerful discernment, we have decided to try to grow our family through an open adoption.

Our Catholic faith is the north star for how we live, and we are part of a vibrant faith community with many young families. We look forward to sharing our beautiful faith traditions with a child, and believe raising them to know and love Jesus will be our most important role as parents.

We are excited to welcome a little one, and so is the rest of our extended family! Adri is the oldest of 5 sisters (with one bro-in-law), and they are all close friends. We live near them and Adri’s parents and get to see them often.

Mark has one older brother and sis-in-law, who have two sweet boys. We travel a few hours away to see them and Mark’s parents regularly and look forward to our annual vacation with them all year.

For work Mark is an IT manager and Adri is in organizational development.

When he isn’t working, Mark enjoys walking our golden retriever puppy Arwen, watching Cubs baseball/Blackhawks hockey/Bears football, following politics, and learning about space. He can’t wait to share his love of sports and passion for space with our child.

Adri enjoys reading, writing on her blog, experimenting with new recipes, decorating our home, and snuggling Arwen. She is eager to do things like bake Christmas cookies with a little one and read bedtime stories.

This year Adri baked lots of chocolate chip biscotti for our neighbors for Christmas.

We both like to go on long hikes and bike rides (especially to our town’s main street for breakfast), visit the library, explore new places (our favorite has been Ireland), and spend lots of quality time with our extended family and friends.

Our hope is to have an open adoption where your child knows who you are, understands the reasons for the choice you’re now considering, and loves you as a member of our family. Our prayer is that you would be present in your child’s life (through whatever means you are comfortable with — in-person visits, video chats, photos, letters, etc) and we’d like to figure out what that looks like together.
