Friends and family keep checking in with us for adoption updates, which I so appreciate! Though there isn’t any news, it makes us feel so supported. I’ll try to share an update here every 3-4 months or so.
We don’t have an online profile posted by our agency yet, but they did make and share an Instagram video of us. Just click the video below to watch it!
We’re told the typical wait time is 18-24 months. We’ve been official/approved to adopt since June of this year, so it’s relatively safe to say we need to get comfy in the wait.
I’m not praying for the Lord to hurry up and bring us a baby though.
I’m not praying for the Lord to hurry up and bring us a baby because if you follow that line of thinking to it’s logical end, I’d essentially be praying for a woman to face an unexpected pregnancy and to be in a position where she can’t raise her child. I don’t wish that fear or pain on anyone.
But we live in a fallen world. Unexpected pregnancies happen (I was unexpected myself), and some circumstances make it really hard to raise a child. If an expectant mama finds herself in this position, chooses adoption, and selects us to be her child’s parents — we’re doing all we can to be available and prepared.
While it is the deepest desire of my heart to be a mother, my prayer is that we will have open hearts for wherever the Lord leads us in His time.
I was praying at Church in adoration a couple weeks ago and felt like the Lord told me something about the timing of when we will become parents. I told Mark, but am otherwise keeping it to myself. I’m still trying to discern if it’s merely something I thought/wished or a whisper from the Holy Spirit.
Our nursery/baby gear preparedness has both progressed and reverted. After building the crib we purchased, it just didn’t feel sturdy/safe enough so we ended up taking it back. We’re on the hunt for a new one. If you have a brand or type you recommend, please share!
We did recently get an infant car seat! It has very high safety ratings and was recommended to us by more than one person. Bonus — It was practically given to us by one of our neighbors, so I’m super grateful.
That’s it for now! Stay tuned. 😉
