Friday favorites vol. 5

TGIF! Time for another Friday Favorites link-up with Erica, Andrea, and Narci.

Every year our family takes a trip to my FAVORITE little county in Wisconsin for some fall fun. We went at the end of last week through Monday. This year we attended a pumpkin patch festival, went apple picking, walked along the shores of Lake Michigan, and ate LOTS of yummy food.

The highlight was all the quality time we had with my husband’s side of the family. With our upcoming move, we tried to soak up every second we could with all of them.

On this annual trip, we take a photo by the fireplace at our hotel. (I’m sure I’ve blogged about this before.) I think this is our 14th time taking our “fireplace photo.” Watching how we’ve changed over the years is one of my FAVORITES!

This is my new FAVORITE chili recipe. Great for anti-inflammatory, paleo, gluten and dairy free diets. It also incorporates some of the best flavors of fall: pumpkin, clove, and cinnamon. Mmmmm.

Have you ever listened to the Fountains of Carrots podcast? It’s one of my FAVORITES because the hosts love to read and to discuss what they’re reading.

On a recent episode, they started talking about The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery, who also wrote the Anne of Green Gables series. When I realized I hadn’t read it yet, I immediately shut off the podcast so I could read without spoilers.

On my commute I listened to the audio book. It is such a sweet love story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the evolution of each of the characters. Then of course I went back and listened to the podcast to hear the hosts’ take on it.

My verdict: Check out the book and the podcast!

We are moving into our new house, my final FAVORITE, in exactly 2 weeks! Ahhhh! I have to admit though, I’m overwhelmed just thinking about packing. Any great packing tips?
