Friday favorites vol. 8

Friday Favorites link-up with Erica, Andrea, and Narci below!

My husband’s bro, our sister-in-law, and nephews visited recently and it was the best weekend. We didn’t have any set plans or family party events like we often do when we visit them in Chicago, so it was nice to go with the flow and hang out.

Playing ring toss
Driving his Uncle around the park 😉

One of my nephews, and of course his mommy, made a cake and brought it to share with us. In addition to the time we had with the fam, this cake is my first FAVORITE. I’d even go as far as to say it was the best cake I’ve ever had in my life! I’m not being dramatic or exaggerating.

Recipe: Chocolate Zucchini Brownies

They used regular cocoa powder instead of Dutch, which gave it more of a cake consistency than brownie as the recipe title suggests. My husband commented it wasn’t overly sweet, and I think that is why I liked it so much. It had more of a bitter chocolate taste. 😍

If you would’ve told me in high school that as an adult I would be intentionally putting oil on my face twice a day, you would have received a very annoyed look from me. Back then, I did everything I could to eliminate oil because my skin was always oily.

Turns out, I was over-producing oil because my face was so dry. This facial oil, my next FAVORITE, has helped so much! I picked it up at Target and apply it once in the morning and evening after washing my face. Highly recommend.

We’ve been trying to teach miss Arwen to walk properly on a leash and it has been a s-t-r-u-g-g-l-e. Then one of my husband’s friends told us about a front clip harness and it has made a world of difference. She’s like a whole different dog when she wears that instead of a collar or back clip harness.

If you have a puppy who pulls, you need this. This is the brand we purchased. It’s also my FAVORITE because it’s adjustable in every way. Some of the other harnesses we tried were only adjustable in one spot and as a result, Arwen slipped right out of them.

My music streaming service suggested the new Death Cab for Cutie album, Thank You for Today, last week and I’ve had it on repeat ever since. I enjoyed their music way back when, and their latest is my current FAVORITE! Autumn Love, Hurricane, and Northern Lights are the three songs I can’t get out of my head. Check it out and then come back and tell me how much you loved it. 😉

My next FAVORITE is an event I attended with my grandparents. Their retirement community hosted a “twisted” fashion show. Each participant was given a fun theme and had to create a custom outfit to model. My Grandma’s theme was “Belle of The Ball” and she definitely looked the part!

A bunch of the ladies in our family got together to sew bells all over her dress and put sequins on a bell hat and earrings. The outfits all the ladies wore were so creative and fun. By the end of the event my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard.

For my sister Brianna’s birthday, we planned to do a moonlight kayaking adventure. I was kind of scared (because being on the water in the dark is kinda creepy right?), but also excited. The weather was stormy that night, so it was cancelled. We were all bummed, but ended up visiting for a couple hours at a coffee shop and then went to an escape room.

It wasn’t the night we originally planned, but it was just as fun! We did not “get out” of the escape room, but the time with my sisters is my final FAVORITE.

What are some of your favorites this week?

You are most welcome! It doesn’t prevent it 100%, but it makes a huge difference. Hope it works for your pup!
