I’m reading a book right now called The Choice: America at the Crossroads of Ruin and Revival. It cites the self-centered attitudes/morals/behaviors of the Baby Boomers as the cause of many of America’s problems.
Rather than simply pointing out the issues the plague America today, the author Sammy Tippet digs through history to pinpoint the events that he believes caused the issues. His perspective is interesting, and over the course of the last few days I’ve been trying to sort out to what degree I agree with him.
As I read a few statements, particularly in regard to television, I found myself thinking, ‘there’s no way that is true!’ For example, 7 out of every 8 references to sex pertain to extramarital relations. I’m going to do an experiement over the course of the next few weeks and observe some of the media (and even populations) that he believes propogate the lack of morality in society. If this stuff is all true, I feel ashamed for even watching tv and supporting programming that has such an adverse affect on future populations.
The more I watch and listen, the more I’m convinced he’s not so far off base…
Unfortunately, I believe it. Hope your research proves him wrong, though!
