“You should’ve seen it in color” – Picture 10

I’ve really enjoyed putting together this series, and frankly, I was sad at the idea of this being my last picture series entry. So…I’ve decided to continue it indefinitely, posting as the mood strikes. I hope you enjoy reading about the most embarrassing picture I can remember sitting for below…

Picture 10

Adri school pic

The obvious:
This is a picture of me in the Spring of 1993, my 2nd grade school year. I am a huge nerd.

What you can’t see:
I begged my Mom for this “Hacker of the Year” background because I thought it went with my “puzzle” shirt. I’m ashamed to admit I actually cried real tears to get my way on this one. My Mom (God bless her) was trying to save me future embarrassment by helping me select a more neutral background, but I had my heart set on being a giant nerd.

I was also very into computers, mostly for word processing. Making up my own stories and then seeing them in type was one of my favorite activities. It made me feel like a “real” writer. I’m wearing one of my favorite shirts. I wore it (probably way too much) with purple stretch pants and big scrunchy socks.

How this picture makes me feel:
Angry at the early 90’s. I know I can’t take out my anger on an entire decade, but my outfit is so ridiculous and I’m pretty sure it was in style. And the glasses!!! They cover half of my tiny face. C’mon family! The fact that they let me out of the house like this should be a crime. After viewing this, I’m also incredibly thankful my Mom sprung for braces.

This picture also makes me laugh. I guess I’ve always had a dorky side.

  1. I am so glad you’ve decided to continue this series, I was sad hearing you were working on the 10th edition (of what was to be 10) already, but now I don’t have to be anymore!!

Regarding your picture: You’re so cute there, and as a current “giant nerd” this picture solidifies any possible doubt anyone could have had that we were meant to be together.

And for the record…I think your outfit looks great. Good job Mom!
