Life lately

I feel exactly the way Arwen looks in this photo. Exhausted and eager to snuggle to sleep! We spent the afternoon ripping out a bunch of dead bushes in the front yard, and it made me realize/remember how little upper body strength I have. The front yard looks a lot better though. Now we just need to figure out what to plant there instead, or if we should convert part of the flower bed back to grass.

Team week @ work

This past week was our annual Team Week at work, in which all employees travel to our headquarters for fun events, training, and togetherness. I’ve been preparing for a while, so it was awesome to see it all come together.

Playing Nerf archery dodgeball for a team event one night. We had to wear some creepy looking masks, but it was very fun and good exercise running around. Highly recommend checking out the Wicked Ball facility for events!

The days were long and full of activities, but it made me so grateful to be part of this team. Everyone is so kind, inclusive, and did I mention super smart?? Hearing some friends and family talk about their work environments lately has made me especially happy I don’t have to put up with workplace politics.

Birthday fun

While we were in town, we got to celebrate my nephews’ and mother-in-law’s birthdays. After the four year old blew out the candles, we asked him what he wished for. We were guessing all different kinds of toys when he put up his hands and said, “No, I wished I could drink a beer.” Of course we were all nearly in tears with laughter.

Earlier in the night he asked for a beer like his Dad, Uncle, and Papa were drinking and was obviously denied his request. I think that influenced his wish. 😉

EFN 2.0

10 years ago, inspired by my friend Lindsay’s “Ethnic Food Night” with her friends, I started a local meet up at different restaurant every month featuring food from another part of the world. I’m excited to report Mark and I are bringing it back as World Food Night!

World Food Night #1 was at a local Thai restaurant. I ordered drunken noodles and they were so good my mouth is watering now just thinking about them. Next month we’re having Moroccan food. I can’t wait!

Easter

We’ve had a lovely Easter season so far. On Easter Sunday, we celebrated with Mass at our parish in the morning and then a family party at my sister’s house.

I’m so lucky to be this guy’s wife.

The day before Easter, my sister and I went to an escape room with my Dad for his birthday. It was actually 3 rooms, making it the most elaborate escape room I’ve visited by far. We did not get out, but we were so so close.

The last clue was a word scramble. I’m normally good at those, but as the clock wound down in the last seconds, my mind went totally blank. So helpful right?!

How has life been for you lately?
